After reporting on the Gwich’in Nation’s efforts to protect the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge from oil drilling for Teen Vogue, Director Maia Wikler met the Han Gwich’in mother-daughter duo, Quannah, and Jody, while lobbying in Washington D.C. She created an empowering film by women, about women, that challenged audiences to engage more deeply on issues of climate justice and Indigenous rights through empathy and community-based storytelling. Walking Two Worlds invites audiences to feel a deep, relatable connection to Jody and Quannah's relationship, which parallels their relationship with the land. Through intimate, emotional storytelling, audiences are compelled to advocate alongside Quannah and Jody.
